flog in progressThe Stick Free
The ghost of a lady in a green dress is haunting a college student and calling to a homeless man hundreds of miles away. Meanwhile, a student organization bent on exposing the greed and corruption of those in power is being haunted by a spectre of its own: A masked, caped figure that attacks with deadly force and precision but is itself impervious to injury. ¤ 26. Plan B
[Thursday, April 20, 2006]
Steven was speechless. He felt his posture slump in defeat. Assassins? This was a good measure more than he had bargained for when he'd agreed to join Bernard's protests, and certainly much more than he wanted to get Josie involved with.

The afternoon at the Eddingses had affected him in a mysterious way, though he couldn't put his finger on what it was -- not the accusatory stares of President dela Forge, nor the guilty remorse of Senator Eddings. It was something more -- or less -- than that. Josie had admitted that she, too, had felt odd, and wrote it off to the fact that they knew more about Bernard than they had shared and were thus convinced everyone else also knew this.

When four new stars suddenly appear in the night sky, mainstream science does what mainstream science has always done: It denies the evidence that doesn't fit the theory. So why then is it that a private space administration is rounding up the best and brightest for a manned mission to Mars? [read it]   [download e-book]
